| Littletree stud is based
in the heart of Cumbria on the outskirts of the quiet,
scenic village of Great Asby. The farm is set in 54 acres of
open hill land, which our herd can roam through freely.
We are busy, family run
day to day yard consisting of husband and wife Nicholas &
Jane Woolley and their two daughters Emma and Jessica.
Nick
and Jane both have limitless knowledge on equestrianism,
both coming from horse-orientated families.

Nick has
competed in many Show jumping, Working Hunter and Showing classes with Welsh ponies through to Hunters. His Father
bred Thoroughbreds and so Nick has gained much knowledge on
conformation and breeding from him. As well as this he has
also had much experience in backing many different types of
horses, and has passed his knowledge onto his daughters.
When she was younger,
Jane competed in many Show Jumping, Working Hunter and
Eventing Competitions and enjoyed much success in these
areas with ponies and horses that she schooled herself. |

| Emma has been showing all
of her life and has more recently had a strong interest in
dressage. She particularly enjoys the training of youngsters
and takes pleasure in producing them to a high level.
Amongst many achievements, she has qualified for and
competed two ponies at Olympia:- Lunesdale Evening Star owned by Mr
& Mrs Morland in 2005, and Raisbeck Casino owned by Mrs D Slack in
2006. She also qualified and rode Raisbeck Casino to an
amazing 2nd place at Horse of the Year Show in 2006, and
piloted Lunesdale Evening Star to be Supreme Champion at the
2005 Fell Pony Society Breed Show. Youngest daughter Jessica
has also had much success in the show ring, and is now
currently concentrating on her exams in her final year of
Secondary School. |

We strongly feel that the most effective way to promote the
Fell Pony is through performance, and so have devised a
Breeding Programme that produces ponies that best suit our
needs. We have hill-bred ponies from semi-feral herds as
we feel keeping type and hardiness is extremely important
As well as this we have
carefully selected stock which combines quality and movement
along with a positive mental attitude towards work,
athleticism and a good performance ability. We have been
heavily involved with backing, training and competing a
large number of ponies for the last 10 years. Through
studying the attitudes of these ponies from many different
bloodlines, we have been able to choose breeding stock with
the most trainable temperaments. We also look for the ponies
to have good natural balance and the appearance of easily
and well-flexed joints.
Our ponies are competed
in showing and, more recently, dressage competitions.
Between 8 & 12 ponies are in work at any one time, from
youngsters being backed to fully established
competition ponies. We have
excellent modern facilities which enables us to work the
ponies all year round, meaning their training programmes are
unaffected when the bad weather comes in winter. We keep a
calm, peaceful atmosphere around the ponies to build up
trusting relationships, which helps to bring about their
true potential. |
